The Studio Recording
In 1993 Warwick and Lynn needed to assess if the Bolivar music, lyrics and plot construction could offer entertainment and dramatic impact. Having links with the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Warwick realised many young singers were interested to practice studio recording technique - something that wasn't often available to them.
The talents of respected orchestrator and arranger Murdo McRae from Murdifications were engaged to bring life to what had previously been a simple piano/ vocal score.
About twenty minutes of chorus work was rehearsed by Alison Rogers and in a hectic weekend at Grevillea Studios in Brisbane a rehearsal was captured - not perfect, but enough to get an idea for future development. Warwick then spent a week with an engineer at Trackdown studios in Sydney to produce a Master DAT tape suitable to make a CD.
Following welcome input from Cameron Macintosh and other producers, an arranger who had worked on 'Cats' and 'Phantom of The Opera' was asked to go through the music and make suggestions in regard to musical phrasing. Lynn transposed these suggestions to the musical score in 2001.
Since then, the ordinary dramas of Life have diverted Lynn and Warwick from this passion: family moves, changes in jobs, you know what can happen! - and the technology for music production and presentation has dramatically altered. So this effort is to get the project into current technologies and hope that it takes on a more consistent life of its own.
